Position Summary

The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a new tenure track position in our growing neuroscience program beginning September 1, 2018. A Ph.D. is required and appointment at the assistant professor level is anticipated, although higher ranks may be considered for suitably qualified applicants. The successful candidate will help to further develop our interdisciplinary neuroscience program ( by creating an upper- level molecular neuroscience course, in addition to teaching our introductory neuroscience course (with labs) and other courses in the major, such as Introductory Psychology and/or Biology, Drugs & Behavior, Statistics, Research Design & Experimentation, or courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Although the specific neuroscience area is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the molecular track of our new neuroscience major. Applicants must demonstrate a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring and a commitment to scholarship that includes collaborative research with undergraduates. The department is housed in the College‚Äôs new Dr. Myron Wentz Science Center, a state-of-the-art facility designed to facilitate collaborations between STEM disciplines and enhance the educational experience of all students.
